Melick Award Nomination Criteria

The Board of Directors welcomes nominations for the annual presentation of the Melick Award at Town Meeting in May. Nominees may be a person of any age who has unselfishly helped friends, neighbors, or strangers, and who has consistently contributed as a volunteer in our community. They should be considered an inspiration to others.

Nominees can be anyone who has offered their volunteer services over a substantial period of time and the volunteer work should be beyond what was performed as part of paid employment. Nominees should have performed civic deeds in an exemplary manner outside of a career in politics.

Any citizen of Needham is invited to submit a nomination to the Richard Patton Melick Foundation, P.O. Box 920101, Needham, MA 02492 or by email to president@melickfoundation.com.

Supporting information, including name and phone number, plus the names of two other people who know the candidate, should accompany the nomination.

Inviting your contribution

In addition to recognizing individuals in the community whose service exemplifies the ideals of good neighbors and good citizens, the Foundation makes financial awards and supports special community projects designed to enhance good citizenship. The foundation is also a sponsor of Civics Bee. The Board of Directors invites you to consider making a tax deductible contribution to the Richard Patton Melick Foundation.

Contributions may be sent to The Richard Patton Melick Foundation, P.O. Box 920101, Needham, MA 02492.

We welcome your support
